Webelos go on annual campout

Boy Scout Troop 2810, chartered out of Salem Lutheran Church of Sycamore, conducted its annual Webelos campout in the fall. This was an opportunity for Cub Scouts who are in their first or second year of Webelos, plus their parents, to experience what a Boy Scout campout is like. Nicknamed the Webelos Walkabout, the 65 Scouts and parents moved between three stations, learning important skills such as first aid, fire building with cooking skills, plus animal and plant identification. While learning “Leave No Trace” and participating in a conservation project of seed pickup for the DeKalb Forest Preserve, the Webelos also earned three hours of volunteer time for their World Conservation patch.
