Mighty Makers to participate in global coding initiative

DeKALB – Children who attend this month’s Mighty Makers program will participate in “Hour of Code,” a global initiative to teach more kids to code.

The meeting will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. Dec. 11 at the DeKalb Public Library, 309 Oak St.

Children can help Moana defeat the Kakamora, create their own Star Wars game or face CodeCombat. Along the way, participants will learn beginning coding skills.

This program is free and is intended for children ages 6 to 11. No registration is required, but there is a limit of 20 spaces available, so come early to get a slot. This program will be conducted at the internet computers in the Children’s Department.

For information, contact Laura at lauraw@dkpl.org or 815-756-9568, ext. 3350.
