The Kishwaukee Valley Art League will honor promising art students at its 6:30 p.m. monthly meeting on Dec. 7 in the Yusunas Room at the DeKalb Public Library.
This year, KVAL has invited students from Sycamore High School, DeKalb High School and Kishwaukee College to its annual “Art of Giving” meeting.
Two students from each school have been chosen by their teachers as the most promising and creative students in their classes. This year’s honorees are Julie Umekubo and Hannah Harvey from Sycamore High School, Hayley Krull and Asher Lowrey from DeKalb High School and Tara Ozehowski and Alexander Gaytan from Kishwaukee College.
The students will present their artwork to the audience of KVAL members, parents and friends of the students, and members of the public interested in attending the event. Each student honored will receive a certificate and cash award. The students will be available afterward for discussion and questions.
Each year, KVAL looks forward to this opportunity to support high school and college students in their creativity and also invite them to participate in the summer Northern Illinois Art Show in June in the student booth. KVAL hopes to see many attend this meeting to encourage young students to move forward with their creativity. Refreshments will be served after the presentations.
In addition, KVAL members will bring art supplies to donate to its “Art of Giving” program. These art supplies will be given to local charities in the surrounding area.
The Kishwaukee Valley Art League is committed to promoting local artists and dedicated to the development of upcoming artists in the Kishwaukee Valley area. Visit www.kval-nfp.org for information.
