WATERMAN – A 22-year-old was arrested Monday afternoon in Waterman on a warrant for failing to update his registration on the state’s murder and violent offender against youth registry, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Trenton J. Kwiatek, of the 2300 block of Laurel Lane in Sycamore, could face two to five years in prison if he’s convicted of failing to register.

The release said Kwiatek ran away from a Waterman police officer and a sheriff’s deputy Monday afternoon, but that after he ran across Route 30 and into backyards in the 500 and 600 block of Wilson Street, he was arrested.

Kwiatek was taken to the DeKalb County Jail and will have a bond hearing at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
