SYCAMORE – A 23-year-old Lee man accused of pushing firefighters as they were trying to put out a fire in his car was ordered to be released on his signature Monday afternoon.

Justice W. Rock, of the 100 block of Viking Vie, has been charged with aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, resisting a police officer, driving under the influence and improper lane use.

If he’s convicted of the most serious charge, aggravated battery, he could be sentenced two to five years in prison.

Police said in court records that after Rock put his car in the ditch Saturday morning, he shoved at least one firefighter, and that once a state conservation officer and a DeKalb County Sheriff’s deputy arrived, he knocked them down into the ditch.

Chief Judge Robbin Stuckert ordered Rock be released on his signature, and said it’s her understanding he plans to hire a lawyer.

He is scheduled to be back in court at 9 a.m. Jan. 12.
