Not all people at the pinning ceremony were veterans; veterans’ family members, including wives and children, also attended the event.
Barbara Moser of Sycamore attended the event with her husband, Ken, an 87-year-old Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Julie Weber of DeKalb attended with her husband Tom, an Army Vietnam veteran and her father, Joesten.
Barbara Moser and Julie Weber both said they attended the event as a way to celebrate their relatives’ military service and their sacrifices through the years.
“Attending events like this are very important to us,” Moser said. “I’m proud to be here with my husband to honor him and all the men and women that served our country. It’s heartwarming to see so many veterans here and have the opportunity to thank them for all they have done.”
