The Gen. John Stark Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated its 110th anniversary on Nov. 4 at the Ellwood House in DeKalb.

Illinois State Regent Gloria Flathom was the honored guest on the chapter’s special day. She offered congratulations on the chapter’s longevity and delivered the theme of her term, “Until You Spread Your Wings, You Have No Idea How High You Can Fly.”

The Gen. John Stark Chapter received its National Charter on Oct. 22, 1907. Luccetta Stark Boynton was the organizing regent and a descendant of Gen. John Stark. Special acknowledgment also was given to Patience “Patty” Knowles Ellwood, who served as Missouri State Regent and curator of the DAR Museum in Washington, DC. She is a descendant of the Ellwood family.
