Family Service Agency’s Senior Services will hold its annual pie auction fundraiser from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Faranda’s in DeKalb.
The pie auction is a fun-filled evening that includes appetizers, a cash bar, entertainment, a silent auction, and a live pie auction. Paired with each auctioned pie is a basket filled with splendors from local businesses and donors. Attendees can vie for one of the dozen or so pies that are paired with other auction items, or they can purchase a to-go pie.
“This event is one that so many people really look forward to and thoroughly enjoy,” Diana King, manager of FSA’s Senior Services program, said in a news release. “We’ve got a few ‘celebrity bakers’ including Mrs. Pritchard who usually bakes an apple pie and a cherry pie.
“Of course the pies and entertainment are noteworthy, but the real purpose of this event is to support one of our amazing programs, Senior Services. We provide programming that allows seniors to remain independent and safe in their homes rather than entering an assisted living facility or other type of retirement home,” King said in the release.
All of the programs are therapeutic and designed to promote physical, mental and social fitness. Senior Services operates senior centers throughout DeKalb County. All programs are free to those served.
Tickets to the pie auction cost $25 a person or $40 for two. All proceeds support the Senior Services program.
