NIU Autism Caregiver Group welcomes new, returning members

Families of children or young adults with autism are invited to a meet-and-greet information session to be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the Northern Illinois University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, 3100 Sycamore Road in DeKalb.

Attendees can tour the clinic and child activities room, meet the faculty and student members, and learn more about services and benefits such as:

• Presentations by experts in a variety of topics related to autism spectrum disorders. Experts and presenters are chosen based on attending families’ input.

• Free activities for children during meetings provided by NIU undergraduates studying to become healthcare professionals who work with individuals with autism.

• A safe, welcoming environment for families to learn about and discuss important topics related to autism.

Free childcare, light appetizers and refreshments will be provided.

The Autism Caregiver Group meets the second Thursday of each month for expert presentations on topics related to autism spectrum disorder.
