NIU School of Art and Design awards scholarships

The Northern Illinois University School of Art and Design awards scholarships to a select number of talented majors. The following local students were awarded scholarships this year:

• Jack and Margaret Arends Scholarship, available to graduate and undergraduate students in the School of Art with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher:

• Cora B. Miner Scholarship, preference given to a junior or senior undergraduate art major from DeKalb County:

• Lester K. Smith Art Scholarship, available to graduate students and junior or senior students in art who intend to pursue a career in an arts-related field:

• O’Malley-Pugh Art Scholarship, junior or senior majoring in the School of Art with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 in art courses:

The School of Art and Design has been a fully accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design since 1969. All academic programs at NIU are also accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools, while programs in education are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
