SYCAMORE – A two-car crash at DeKalb Avenue and Mercantile Drive caused traffic Friday morning and sent a driver to the hospital.

Sycamore police and fire departments were called about 10:15 a.m. to the scene, where a Cortland Flooring van had rear-ended a Ford SUV, police said at the scene. They said the driver of the SUV, Jerry Debrunye, complained of head pain and was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital.

Rich Jonutz, the driver of the van, said he was leaving Menards when it happened.

“I looked down for a second, then boom,” he said.

Jonutz was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
