Police looking for man who tried to abduct child

DAVIS JUNCTION – Police are looking for a man who they said tried to abduct a 9-year-old boy at the Rolling Meadows trailer park in Davis Junction, Ogle County Sheriff Brian Van Vickle said.

A release from the sheriff’s office said a deputy on patrol was approached about 3:15 p.m. by the child, who told him a man in a black full-size truck tried to abduct him. The child said the man was in his late teens or early 20s with reddish brown hair, green eyes and a white work shirt, possibly with a name patch that reads “Andrew.”

The child said the man’s truck had rust and a profane decal in the back window, but it’s not clear which way he went when he drove off.

The sheriff’s office is looking for help finding the man. Call the office at 815-732-2136 or call Ogle County Crime Stoppers at 888-228-4488. Tipsters may remain anonymous and can be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
