About 150 people turned out Monday night for a public hearing on a low-income senior living project proposed to be built at 1101 Hathaway Drive in Sycamore if the Building and Zoning Commission and City Council greenlight it.
My hearing isn’t the greatest, but between those who stepped up to the microphone to express their opposition and all the whispers, groans and occasional laughter in disbelief I heard, I can’t confidently say there was a single Sycamore resident in the room who supported the proposal.
Having gotten around in the five months I’ve been here, I can confidently say a handful or two of the folks who were there didn't even live in the neighborhood of the proposed project.
