Northern Illinois junior quarterback Ryan Graham will not start Saturday against Eastern Illinois because of an injury, the school confirmed Friday.
Daniel Santacaterina will make his second career start for the Huskies and play in his fourth game. He was in a battle with Graham throughout camp for the starting job, losing out in the final two weeks or so.
Coach Rod Carey, through a school official, would not say how or when Graham got hurt, or how long he would be out.
Graham was 15 for 38 with two touchdowns and an interception for the Huskies in a 23-20 loss Sept. 1 at home to Boston College. He threw for 190 yards and ran for 99.
Santacaterina started last year against Kent State, passing for 258 yards in a road win. He played against Eastern Michigan, leading the Huskies to a come-from-behind victory at the bowl-bound Eagles. He ran for 91 yards and threw for 113.
He also appeared in the Toledo game late at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago.
