Locals organize truck to bring Hurricane Harvey relief

DeKALB – Members of Crossview Church are collecting items through Friday to deliver to Texas to help with Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

Blackhawk Moving and Storage has donated the use of a 53-foot tractor-trailer to take the much-needed supplies to a location in Texas designated by the Red Cross.

Volunteers will be in the Crossview parking lot, 150 Bethany Road in DeKalb, to collect the items 7 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. daily.

The Red Cross has limited collection to certain nonperishable items: bottled water, blankets, towels, paper products such as toilet paper and tissues, household cleaning products, diapers and baby formula.

The DeKalb County Community Foundation also urges those who want to help to reach out to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, the Red Cross, or The Salvation Army, said the foundation’s executive director, Dan Templin.
