An Information and Assistance representative from Elder Care Services will be on hand from 1 to 2 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the Sycamore Library for the remainder of the year.
The following is a schedule of topics:
• Aug. 15 – “New to Medicare.” This is an informational meeting for anyone that is or will soon turn 65. A variety of Medicare issues will be discussed including enrollment periods, prescription drug plans, Medicare Advantage plans and Supplemental plans.
• Sept. 19, Oct. 17 and Nov. 21 – “Medicare’s Open Enrollment Period.” This is the one time a year that a person can change prescription drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans (Oct. 15 through Dec. 7). The representative will be available to assist with options for choosing a different plan. Prescriptions change as well as the company’s formulary and costs, therefore it is important to be certain that your plan is still meeting your needs.
• Dec. 19 – “Savings Programs for Seniors.” Different savings programs for seniors will be discussed, including the Benefit Access Program ($24 license plate sticker), Safelink phone, Extra Help (for prescriptions) and the Medicare Savings Program.
Appointments can be made at Elder Care Services for any of these services plus many more. Call 815-758-6550 to schedule an appointment.
