Carolyn Nojiri has been named the softball coach at Kishwaukee College.
Nojiri is a native of Downers Grove and also graduated from and played for Lewis University in Romeoville.
She coached in clinics and camps in South Africa as well as in camps in Illinois.
She said she is excited to be the coach for a young Kougar team that has three returning players.
“They are an athletic group,” she said. “We will build on solid fundamentals of the game and concentrate on playing as a team, bonding as a team. Many of the women can play multiple positions, so we have a lot of flexibility.”
The team will begin a short fall season of play Sept. 10 with no home games on the schedule. The short season ends with a round-robin tournament at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
“I want the women to know that I am there for them and am committed to bringing their play to the next level. I want to help them prepare for the next stage of their careers at the university-level,” Nojiri said. “I expect them all to work hard, but also have fun playing a game we all love.”
