The DeKalb Area Women's Center rain gardens and rain barrels at 1021 State St. in DeKalb were certified by The Conservation Foundation on July 16. DeKalb County Master Gardener Anna Marie Coveny accepted the award in the form of a marker, which was planted by Trish Beckjord, Fox River program manager. The sign reads: "The Conservation@Home program recognizes this property for its environmentally friendly landscape. Water conservation practices and the protection and restoration of native plant and wildlife communities will improve the quality of our environment."
