SYCAMORE – Guadalupe Associates Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of printed religious materials, has broken ground on a new 57,000-square-foot facility in Sycamore Prairie Business Park.

Construction crews can be seen preparing the site along Aster Road between South Prairie Drive and Bethany Road, near The Suter Co. and Ideal Industries.

On Monday, Sycamore City Council approved the annexation and rezoning of part of the property for heavy manufacturing.

Mayor Curt Lang said the action was a matter of housekeeping to ensure that all of the property is zoned properly, according to the DeKalb County Recorder’s Office requirements.

Guadalupe Associates Inc., part of Ignatius Press, plans to use the facility for manufacturing and distribution, but the company is not completely new to the area, Lang said.

He said the company has operated a storage facility in DeKalb and another building in Sycamore that is occupied by Paradise Found tanning spa on East State Street.

An opening date and the number of jobs that will be created are not yet known, but the facility will be a welcome addition to Sycamore, Lang said.

“We’re happy to have activity in town, and to have another employer,” Lang said.
