Ellwood House hosting block-building event for children

DeKALB – Children ages 8 months to 8 years will have a chance to apply their building skills during a hands-on “Block Fest” program put on by the Ellwood House Museum and the Northern Illinois University Center for P-20 Engagement.

For an hour starting at 10:30 a.m. Friday, children can interact with various building blocks, which is meant to test their math, science and architecture skills at the Ellwood House Museum Visitor Center at 509 N. First St. in DeKalb.

This is the fifth of six summer programs offered by the Elwood Explorers, the museum’s youth education program.

Although the event is free, participants must register in advance, which can be done at ellwoodhouse.org/learn.

For information, call curator Tricia Runzel at 815-756-4609 or email her at trunzel@ellwoodhouse.org.
