MORRIS — One of the big questions lately on the local sports landscape has been if Morris is moving to the Interstate Eight Conference.
Last week, Morris principal Kelly Hussey was invited to a question-and-answer session with the conference, but no vote was taken on whether the conference was going to admit Morris, or any other school, to take the place of Seneca, which is departing to be a part of the Sangamon Valley Conference for football and wrestling and the Tri-County Conference for all other activities.
Morris superintendent Dr. Pat Halloran, speaking for the vacationing Hussey, said that when the Interstate Eight held its last conference meeting, no vote was taken because not all of the schools were represented.
"I do know that they have another meeting in early August," Halloran said. "I would think at that point we should know whether we will be admitted or not.
"I also know that Kelly updated all of the schools in our current conference [the Northern Illinois Big 12] of what is going on, so they all know that we haven't left."
Sandwich principal Tom Sodaro, who doubles as the Interstate Eight Conference president, could not be immediately reached for comment.
