On Wednesday, June 21, at 11 a.m., children and their families are invited to the Ellwood House Museum for “Countries of Curiosity.” Did you know Harriet Ellwood had her own small museum on the Ellwood’s property? This program will focus on Harriet's museum, or curiosity shop, her fascinating collections of souvenirs, and the countries the Ellwood family visited.
Children will visit four different countries where they can examine photographs and souvenirs from the Ellwoods’ travels abroad. Then, children will have the opportunity to learn about a country the Ellwoods never visited and create a souvenir for their own collections.
This program will take place on the Ellwood House grounds surrounding the brick Curiosity Shop. In the event of bad weather, the program will be moved indoors to the Hearthside Room in the Visitor Center.
The program is free of charge and registration is not required. “Countries of Curiosity” is a one-hour program.
