The Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association recently received a donation from the Fox Valley Marathon Club for the organization’s scholarship fund.
The crew volunteered for the Fox Valley Marathon PR Half on April 23 to earn $300 for the fund. The KSRA crew had a great time and plan on assisting in the September race, as well.
Kishwaukee SRA offers community-based recreation therapy programs and inclusion services through its five member park districts that assist its operations through a Special Recreation tax levy – DeKalb, Flagg-Rochelle, Genoa Township, Sandwich and Sycamore. Its mission is “to serve all residents who have special needs and to facilitate the inclusion of these individuals into leisure programs.”
The funds earned through the volunteer opportunity with the Fox Valley Marathon Group will be used to offer scholarships to participants who would otherwise be unable to attend Camp Maple Leaf and other programs this summer.
