The time for my final term as mayor of Sycamore to end is April 2017.

Generous support and needed advice was received over the years as I transitioned from city treasurer to mayor in service to you and the city.

Never have I been more honored and thankful to have worked with so many hard-working, honest people. No mayor has experienced better teamwork from the City Council, business, industry and stakeholders of Sycamore, and for that I am more grateful than you can know.

Kudos to T.D. Ryan, Scott Zak, Eric Olson, Karen Pletsch, Tana Knetsch, Brian Adams, our local media professionals who keep community aware and updated on issues.

You trusted me since 1972, from the library board to city treasurer in ’81 and then as mayor since ’05. One appointment by Mayor “Red” Johnson and Clifford Danielson, both personal heroes, then nine elections each gave you the opportunity to turn away my services. Instead, you said there’s more to do. Access, communication and service with people are three axioms that serve us well.

Time slips away, and yet the city continues to improve on the most important fronts of public safety and public works. City managers Bill Nicklas and Brian Gregory, along with dedicated city employees, elected and appointed staff, and volunteers work every day to balance improvement of services with the resources to fund them. No deficit spending here!

With each new person, program, vehicle or piece of equipment, the triple test of need, function and affordability is applied with fairness and fiscal responsibility by your City Council.

Please place your trust and support in Mayor Curt Lang and the City Council as they govern in a great city where our Creator blesses us with living, learning, working, worshiping and playing – in “Sycamore Where Life STILL Offers More.”

God’s daily blessings to Team Sycamore and to all of you.

• Ken Mundy has been the mayor of Sycamore since 2005. He and his wife, Juanita, are longtime residents.
