DeKALB – A 40-year-old DeKalb man was arrested Thursday after attempting a robbery during a drug deal Wednesday afternoon, according to a news release from the DeKalb Police Department.
Officers responded at 2 p.m. Wednesday to a report that Ricky Harmon, of the 800 block of Crane Drive, was in an apartment in the 800 block of Edgebrook Drive, armed with a handgun.
The release states that the victim invited Harmon in, at which point he implied he had a gun and demanded money.
The victim and roommates fled and, as they did, Harmon left the scene without the victims’ property. No injuries were reported.
Around noon Thursday, police found Harmon walking in the 800 block of Crane Drive, and further evidence led to him being charged with attempted aggravated robbery. They did not locate a weapon.
Harmon is in DeKalb County Jail and has a bond hearing at 1 p.m. today. If convicted of attempted aggravated robbery, he could face three to seven years in prison.
