‘Pushing Limits’ theme of NIU’s TEDx event

DeKALB – Ready to expand that brain of yours?

TEDxNIU, a local nonprofit and nonpartisan group that encourages deep discussions about various topics, will hold a conference Saturday at Northern Illinois University with the theme of “Pushing Limits.”

The event will feature eight speakers in the fields of computer science, cancer research, personal branding, language barriers and entrepreneurship with the goal of showing people how they can push their limits and better the world.

According to its website, TEDx is a global movement devoted to bringing ideas worth spreading to communities around the globe through independently organized TED-like events, such as the one at NIU.

This presentation and other TEDx discussions are recorded and posted online, where they can be watched for free.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. at NIU’s Altgeld Hall for the event, which will last until 4 p.m.

Tickets are sold at NIU’s website.

NIU students will need their OneCard or student ID to get in. A student currently enrolled in any high school, college or university that is not NIU must present current student ID at the door.
