The Northern Illinois softball team dropped both games of its doubleheader at Ball State on Tuesday.
The Huskies lost, 3-2, in Game 1 before dropping Game 2, 6-4 – both of which the Huskies led early in the contest.
In Game 1, Alaynie Woollard and Anne Allen each added an RBI in the first inning for the Huskies. In Game 2, Bekah Harnish hit a grand slam to give the Huskies (16-14 overall, 4-4 in MAC West) a 4-0 lead in the top of the second, but the Cardinals (24-17 overall, 7-1 in MAC West) scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and two in the bottom of the sixth for the win.
Huskies shutout in loss to Milwaukee: Northern Illinois only managed four hits in its 2-0 loss to Milwaukee on Tuesday in DeKalb.
It's the first time this season that the Huskies (8-20 overall) were failed to score in a game.
Northern Illinois starter George Faue threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit with three strikeouts. William Anderson, who pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief, picked up the loss after allowing one unearned run on two hits.
“We faced a really good team today and came out on the wrong side of a pitchers’ duel,” Huskies coach Mike Kunigonis said.
