Block elected Kirkland village president

KIRKLAND – Ryan Block prevailed in the three-way race to determine who will succeed Les Bellah as Kirkland's village president.

As of Tuesday night, Block had 297 votes, ahead of Wanda McMurray with 74 and Harry Newberry with 32, according to unofficial vote totals.

In a five-way race for three seats on the village board, Sarah Ziegler, Colleen Ford and Steven DeVlieger were elected to four-year terms. Ziegler was the leading-vote getter with 214, followed by Ford with 173 and DeVlieger with 154.

Other candidates Ronald Lieving had 107 and Sally Jones garnered with 127. There were 131 write-in candidate votes.
