FUMC offers grief support group

First United Methodist Church of DeKalb is offering a monthly grief support group beginning Wednesday.

The group for adults who have lost a loved one to grow through loss and to find a way to healing and hope through sharing, music and prayer. It is open to everyone in the community whether their grief is new or old. The group is offered as a community service at no charge, and there is no requirement for attending all sessions. Associate Pastor Deborah Kang will facilitate the group.

Meetings will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesdays on the fourth week of the month in the handicapped-accessible church located at 317 N. Fourth St. in DeKalb. Participants can park in the north lot next to the church and enter through the Fourth Street entrance.

Focused topics will be Keeping Memories Alive; Coping Skills and Self-Care; Surviving the Holidays; and Acceptance of Loss as Part of Life. Participants can attend any or all four of the group sessions. Registration is appreciated, but drop-ins are welcome.
