DeKALB – A candidate for alderman in DeKalb’s 2nd Ward has announced he plans to withdraw, citing other commitments.
Barry Federici announced Friday he would drop out of April’s election because of increased military responsibilities.
“As many know, I am currently a colonel in the U.S. Marines, a second-year law student at NIU College of Law, husband and father of four,” Federici said. “I remain excited about the potential we have in DeKalb and look forward to working with the city in the future to build on our assets.”
There now will be a two-way race for the aldermanic seat between incumbent Bill Finucane and William Lamb.
“I believe we need to start with better communication and encourage city leaders to better collaborate with the residents of this great community,” Federici said.
