Dolores Matel of Nurturing Wellness at FVOAS

Fox Valley Older Adult Services is honored to have Dolores Matel, reflexologist and reiki master, on staff to promote another program that enriches the mind, body and spirit.

Matel is available Massage Mondays and Tranquil Thursdays to offer massages at Fox Valley Community Center, 1406 Suydam Road, Sandwich.

Nurturing Wellness was created to bring balance, reduce stress and allow for a time of restorative rest. Massages are usually by appointment only, but there is some flexibility. Call Matel at 815-735-2481 or FVOAS at 815-786-9404.

Also for increased wellness of the mind, body and spirit, certified yoga teacher Michele O’Hara is now offering Chair Yoga classes. O’Hara’s classes are on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at the FV Community Center. Through Chair Yoga, participants can start developing strength and balance, learn to coordinate breathing and movement and improve flexibility through simple yet relaxing postures.

FVOAS has received the Mind, Body and Spirit Award three times. Presented by the Association of Illinois Senior Centers in Springfield, this award recognizes senior centers who have demonstrated excellent support by improving the health of seniors not only physically but spiritually and mentally.

Through the many programs and services available to seniors from DeKalb, Kane, Kendall, LaSalle and Bureau counties, FVOAS ensures that senior lives remain vital and healthy. Programs and activities run daily at the senior center in Sandwich along with adult day service and home services.

These benefits keep hundreds of area seniors living independently in their own homes.
