KC Library hosts Librofest

The Kishwaukee College Library will host Librofest, an author-book fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday. Librofest is free and open to the public.

Librofest is a celebration that includes performances, workshops and books.  The schedule of events for the day includes: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Author tables selling original works; 10:30 a.m. – Children’s story time with Ericka McCarthy; 11 a.m. – Saturnalia book and dance performance; 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. – Panel discussion on Latin American Literature; 12:45 to 1:15 p.m. – Poetry workshop with Edith Bucio; and 1:30 to 3 p.m. – Poetry open mic performances.

The performances, workshops and books will be presented by 7Vientos Press, Marco Escalante, Rey Andújar, Yanet Platt, Esteban Colon, Ericka McCarthy, Rick Amezquita, Edith Bucio and Juan Carols Hernandez. The day also will include free horchata and Mexican pastries. There will be a Graffiti Wall and the Tinez Taco Truck will be on site with food for Librofest participants to purchase.

Librofest at Kishwaukee College is sponsored by the Kishwaukee College Library and the Hispanic Heritage Committee.
