Letter: Every litter bit hurts

To the Editor:

Ah, it’s almost fall, the students are back and the streets of DeKalb remind me of my dear old neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side.

What I mean is, the trash on those streets, especially near the schools – all the schools – where children come to learn, not only the ABC’s and Shakespeare, but I would hope something about being responsible citizens and adults.

I would suggest at least a reminder at those schools that people should take pride in the places they live and learn. Convenience stores, gas stations and shopping malls are the other worse littered areas.

How about signs to remind all of us not to poop in our nests?
