The Northern Illinois women's soccer team fell to 0-2 Sunday with a 2-0 loss at Western Illinois.
Both teams were scoreless at halftime, and Western Illinois got on the board in the 67th minute and added another tally 10 minutes later. The game was played with temperatures in the 90s.
"I thought we did really well in the first half," NIU head coach John Ross said in a news release, "but it was tough to keep those energy levels in the second half. Soccer is incredibly difficult to play in this kind of heat and humidity. Even connecting simple passes together becomes a challenge. But we did our best considering the conditions."
NIU will head out to Hawaii on Wednesday for two matches in Honolulu. The Huskies will take on Hawai'i Thursday night and Seattle Saturday night.
