The 33rd annual Corn Classic 3K/10K will be held Saturday, beginning at Huntley Middle School.
The 3K run/walk will begin at 7:55 a.m., with the 10K starting at 8 a.m.
“A lot of families will walk the 3K as part of it. The 10K race is more for seasoned runners because it’s obviously a lot longer,” said Tricia Maxwell, the marketing director for the Corn Classic Board. “The race portion of it, the 10K, which is 6.2 miles, tends to be more for the seasoned runners as well as those that have done their first 5K this year.”
Cost for the 10K is $30 and $25 for the 3K. Racers younger than 10 years old can participate for $5.
Fans can register at the race or online at dekalbcornclassic.org. Racers are encouraged to bring their registration form to the event.
A portion of the proceeds will go to the DeKalb Park District.
Maxwell said the race gets a lot of participants from locals, as well as runners outside the area. She added that there are more than 200 volunteers this year.
“It’s a really good community event,” she said. “It’s a really good feel-good event. There’s a lot of support for the event as far as people preparing for it, as well as [race] day.”
