Moline parents plead not guilty in son's death

ROCK ISLAND — The parents of an infant boy have pleaded not guilty to charges that they caused his death by rolling over onto him while sleeping and intoxicated.

The Moline Dispatch reports that 30-year-old Terri Lynn Wells and 24-year-old Anthony C. Schlieper Jr. of Moline entered pleas Tuesday in Rock Island County court.

Schlieper wore a T-shirt with his late son's picture on it for the court appearance. Four-month-old Anterio K. Schlieper was found not breathing at their home June 10. Prosecutors say his death from suffocation was related to the parents' marijuana and alcohol use.

They face up to five years in prison if found guilty of the felony charges of child endangerment. A trial date of Sept. 29 has been set.
