SYCAMORE – A 13-year-old Sycamore boy remained in fair condition Friday afternoon at a Rockford hospital after he collided with a pickup truck while riding his skateboard, authorities said.

The boy was riding his skateboard south on Florence Drive about 7:50 p.m. Thursday when he crossed Maplewood Drive without stopping at the stop sign and skated into the path of a Ford F-150 traveling east on Maplewood Drive, according to a DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The driver did not have a stop sign at the intersection and he immediately stopped, helped the boy and called 911, police said. He was not cited or charged with any offenses.

The Sycamore Fire Department transported the boy to Kishwaukee Hospital. He was later airlifted to Rockford Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
