Tanzania Development Support is seeking donations of salable items for a fundraising garage sale that will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 and 23 at 607 Emanuel Lane in Sycamore.

Arrangements regarding donations can be made by contacting Sandra Dawson at 815-895-2624 or sdawson@tdsnfp.org. The organization will provide pick-up service upon request.

Tanzania Development Support, headquartered in DeKalb, is a nonprofit organization with a mission of improving the quality of life of youth, especially girls, in the Mara region of Tanzania by supporting primary and secondary school improvements. The current project is the construction of a Library and Community Resource Center in the tiny village of Nyegina, Tanzania. Additional information is available at www.tdsnfp.org.

TDS relies heavily upon the DeKalb area community for support. Over the past five years, the biannual garage sales have exceeded expectations by raising more than $17,000 due in part to the generosity of local residents who donate merchandise to sell. TDS hopes to continue this success by raising $4,000 at the upcoming sale which will have a selection of home furnishings, clothing, toys, sporting goods, plants, books, small appliances, electronics and vintage items.

Financial donations also are encouraged. Checks can be made payable to Tanzania Development Support and mailed to 201 Thornbrook Road, DeKalb, IL 60115. Online donations can be made at www.tdsnfp.org. All donations will be acknowledged with an IRS receipt. Donors who wish to remain anonymous are asked to indicate their wishes upon donation.
