Big Brothers Big Sisters informational nights

Published: Monday, July 28, 2014 10:49 a.m. CDT

What is it like being a mentor to a child? Can I be a “Big” and still have a family? Big Brothers Big Sisters will host informational nights for community members who would like more information on becoming a “Big” in DeKalb County.

Current volunteers and staff will be available to answer questions from 6 to 7 p.m. today, 5 to 6 p.m. Aug. 19, 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 18 and 5 to 6 p.m. Oct. 8. All informational sessions are at the Family Service Agency at 14 Health Services Drive in DeKalb.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeKalb County also offers the Lunch Buddy program. This mentoring program matches adults from the community with elementary and middle school students. Lunch Buddies are matched with one student and spend an hour every other week helping them with homework, playing at recess and more importantly, being a friend.
