Letter: Another plan for Plank Road curve

To the Editor:

I just read Katie Dahlstrom’s article “Fatal Sycamore intersection will be expensive to fix” (Daily Chronicle, July 19, page A1).  In this article, it states it will take $6 million to realign Plank Road around Moose Range Road.

There is also mention of just how long it may take for any changes to occur because of the money and the action needed to do so.

How about this? Turn Plank and Moose Range into a 3-way stop intersection. From Moose Range, you must stop before entering Plank. In turn, you find a suitable point to put a stop sign, one going in each direction on Plank.  On top of that, you can even put up a sign that warns of a stop sign approaching.

These changes can be applied virtually immediately and at an extremely reduced overall cost. There is no need to spend $6 million and have a potential 20 year timeline when you can spend $5,000 and your timeline is less than a month.

Sound good?
