DeKALB – Northern Illinois University has created and filled the position of director of federal relations.

Anna Quider will report to Lesley Rigg, vice president of research and innovation partnerships, according to a news release from NIU. Quider will represent the university in policy discussions as part of an effort to strengthen NIU’s identity across federal organizations and agencies.

Quider was most recently an Innovation Program Manager and American Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology Policy fellow for the U.S. State Department’s Office of Science and Technology Cooperation. She also served as a legislative assistant in the office of Congressman Russ Carnahan, working with Missouri’s higher education community.

NIU’s federal relations were moved to the Division of Research and Innovation Partnerships recently to be more engaged with federal legislation and higher education topics such as student support issues and financial aid.
