Man who yelled at Illinois judge apologizes
URBANA — An Urbana man sent to jail for six months for yelling profanities at a judge during a hearing has apologized and asked the judge to reconsider.
According to The News-Gazette, 30-year-old Willie Craft Jr. wrote in a letter that he was foolish during the July 9 hearing for Craft's father.
Judge Richard Klaus had sentenced 59-year-old Willie Craft to three and a half years in prison for driving his truck into two University of Illinois students in 2013. One, Mimi Liu, died.
The younger Craft shouted at Klaus and was sent to jail for six months for contempt of court.
No hearing has been set on Craft's request.
Craft's younger brother, 27-year-old Tyler Craft, was released from jail Wednesday after serving eight days for yelling at Liu's parents.
