KINGSTON – Kingston Fest and the Kardboard Boat Regatta return to Kingston Township Park on Saturday, July 19. New this year will be a 5K run over a flat, fast course starting at 8 a.m.

Fest activities, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., offer a variety of food, inflatables, and kids’ games, as well as contests for all ages, including sack races, an egg toss, water balloon toss, and watermelon seed-spitting contest.

Culver’s frozen custard will be served, courtesy of the Kingston Township Park Board.

A raffle will be held with cash prizes totaling over $500. A variety of items will be sold at the craft and vendor fair, and Sycamore Integrated Health will provide free massages.

Topping off the day will be the Kingston Kardboard Boat Regatta on the Mighty Kish at 3:15 p.m. Crews are already hard at work building their versions of the speediest, strongest, and zaniest vessels. The Fleet-of-the-Fleet Prize, sponsored by the Village of Kingston, is $100, and will be awarded to the fastest boat to complete the course. Other awards include the Pirates of Pizzazz for the crew with the most spirit, and the Titanic Award for the most spectacular sinking. Friendly rivalries and challenges are encouraged.

To register for the 5K, boat race, or vendor space, contact Vice Admiral Taunya at Kingston Village Hall, 815-784-5572, or go to www.villageofkingston.org and click on Events. For boat-building inspiration, check out the newsletters posted on the website.
