39 tickets, arrests in roadside safety check

ELGIN – Between the evening of July 3 and morning of July 4, there were 39 citations and arrests at a roadside safety check on Annie Glidden Road north of Route 38.

The roadside check was conducted by the DeKalb Police Department, Northern Illinois University police and Illinois State Police. The roadside checks are designed to remove alcohol-impaired drivers from the road. There was one arrest for driving under the influence during the check.

The roadside check was funded through the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety.
