A man was taken to Kishwaukee Hospital after a two-car crash at the intersection of Bethany Road and Commerce Drive in DeKalb on Monday.

DeKALB – Authorities had to remove a 69-year-old Shabbona man from his vehicle following a two-car crash in DeKalb on Monday.

At 9:05 a.m., Patrick E. McCormick, of Comanche Street in Shabbona, was driving a Ford Focus east in the 500 block of Bethany Road when he tried to turn left onto Commerce Drive, DeKalb police said in a news release.

McCormick's vehicle collided with a pickup truck driven by Samuel Walt, 41, of DeKalb, traveling west through the intersection. McCormick had to be freed from the vehicle and transported to Kishwaukee Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Walt was unhurt, police said.

McCormick was issued a citation for failing to yield while turning left.
