Somonauk Public Library hosts folk musician

Published: Monday, June 30, 2014 9:49 a.m. CDT

Barry Cloyd, touring singer/songwriter and historian, will be at the Somonauk Public Library sharing his insight on the rough and tumble story of American’s balladeer, Woody Guthrie.

Guthrie is brought to life by Cloyd in this privately commissioned one-man original presentation. Guthrie’s stories and songs chronicle America’s struggle, work and the hard-driving spirit that saw our country through the Dust Bowl, the Depression, World War II and the McCarthy era with its Black List.

Cloyd is a consummate folk musician that brings all the passion of the man who wrote “This Land is Your Land,” and hundreds of other songs that have become such a significant part of our national heritage to life.

The library will host this program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The program is free.
