DeKALB — A 21-year-old DeKalb man is due in court next month after pulling a knife on someone last weekend in Lord Stanley's bar in downtown DeKalb, authorities said.

Christian Lopez, of the 300 block of Oak Street, got into a fight about 1:35 a.m. June 21 at Lord Stanley's, 142 E. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, where he punched someone and pulled a 6-inch double-bladed knife on him, court records show.

When officers arrived, the alleged victim's friend told them Lopez was running down an alley. Police tracked him down near Locust Street and found Lopez out of breath with his t-shirt ripped, court records show.

Lopez told the officer he pulled the knife in self-defense. He led the officer to an area just off the alley, where the knife was found, according to court records.

Lopez was charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault and unlawful use of a weapon. If convicted of the most serious charge, he would face between two and five years in prison.

Lopez posted $1,000 bail Tuesday. He is next due in court July 21.
