Garbage truck hits phone wires in Fairdale

FAIRDALE – No one was injured when a garbage truck backed up into low-hanging telephone wires Tuesday morning, authorities said.

A 59-year-old garbage truck driver was backing up from a residence on Brown Street in Fairdale about 10:41 a.m. Tuesday when the top of the truck caught onto the wires, pulling the wires and two poles down, police said.

The truck was not damaged, police said.
