Chicago-area Pearl Harbor vets hold last reunion

Published: Monday, June 23, 2014 10:53 p.m. CDT

LIBERTYVILLE – The last two members of the Chicago-area Pearl Harbor Survivors Association have had their final reunion.

The Daily Herald reports hat 94-year-old Joe Triolo of Waukegan and 92-year-old Lyle Hancock of Wheeling had lunch Sunday at Lambs Farm in Libertyville. That’s where the group has had its reunions every year for the past two decades. The room was filled Sunday with memorabilia, including pictures of the group’s members.

Triolo said he was aboard a cargo ship during the attack. Hancock said he was stationed at the Navy Yard Dispensary.

The group donated the remainder of its funds to Lambs Farm.
