Woman in fair condition after crash in Kirkland

KIRKLAND – A Lake Villa woman was airlifted from a two-car crash at Irene Road and Route 72 in Kirkland was in fair condition Sunday at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.

Kate L. Wilson, 20, of the 1400 block of Benton Road in Lake Villa, was driving southbound on Irene Road around 6:45 p.m. Friday in her 2007 Pontiac Vibe when she ran a stop sign at Route 72, police said.

Wilson's vehicle struck a 2004 Pontiac Vibe being driven by Christopher E. Berg, 37, of the 300 block of Misty Meadow Lane, Davis Junction. Berg was westbound on Route 72, police said.

Wilson had to be extricated from the vehicle by Kirkland EMS and flown by helicopter to OSF Saint Anthony's for injuries that weren't life-threatening, where hospital staff said she is in fair condition. Berg was taken by ambulance to Saint Anthony's for njuries that weren't life-threatenings. Staff did not have information on Berg's condition Sunday.

Wilson was cited for disobeying a stop sign.
